New Catalog Open House

I had my New Catalog Open House last night. We made two cute cards and a little chocolate treat holder. Thanks to everyone who came!

The first card we made, I saw here on SplitCoast Stampers by Julie. I loved how simple and bold the card is and everyone loved the new Pacific Point InColor!

I used the new Top Note Sizzix die-cut and then stamped colored the flowers old olive and the branches in chocolate chip and then stamped it sideways on the paper. Then I punched out three small flowers of pacific point cs with the trio flower punch and added brads to the middle and used glue dots to adhere them randomly to the flower branch. I used the sentiment from the Inspired by Nature set in the top right corner.

Next, we made a card with the new set, Flight of the Butterfly. I love butterflies! We used a lot of punches for this one: the scallop punch, the 1 3/8", 1 1/4", and 1" circle punches, and the scallop edge punch. We started with pink pirouette and stamped the flower in pink pirouette across the top. Although it looks black in this picture, we used chocolate chip for the layers.

The last project we did was a little chocolate treat holder. We started with a piece of 2 1/4" x 7 1/2" piece of riding hood red cardstock and scored lengthwise at 3", 3 3/4", and 6 3/4".

Then we stamped the for you stamp from Say it with Scallops, the new Ronald McDonald House set and punched it out with the new scallop square punch. We adhered it to a piece of kiwi kiss and then to a 2" square of bella rose dsp.

Next, we punched two holes in the top flap and threaded some of the new kiwi kiss/very vanilla satin ribbon through. It's so soft! We punched the small flower with the Boho Blossoms punch out of some pink pirouette. But the best part of all is the Ghiradelli chocolate squares we tucked into the pouch!

At the party, I announced that I have three classes planned, so stay tuned for more details! Have a great three day weekend!

In Love

I'm in love. With my new Sizzix Big Shot! I love all the different things I can cut out especially all the scallop circles! I've been waiting for Stampin' Up! to offer a die-cut machine, so the Big Shot is a dream come true. As soon as I saw this week's sketch challenge, I knew that I could use one of the scallop circles for it!

And as you already know, I'm in love with the Bella Rose paper so I had to get the coordinating A Rose is a Rose stamp set. So I used it to stamp the rose and the sentiment. I love the new satin riding hood red ribbon so I added that too!

Don't forget, this Thursday night is my New Catalog Open House at 7pm at my house! Please rsvp if you haven't already to let me know that you are coming!

Dreams Du Jour card

I can't get enough of the Dreams Du Jour set and the Bella Rose paper. They are really beautiful! I finally got my first huge order last week (three boxes!) and with it, my ribbon!!! I love all the new ribbon! Especially all the riding hood red ribbon.

For this card I stamped the image with basic gray and I used blender pens to color in the image with riding hood red and kiwi kiss. I used the scallop edge punch on the bella rose dsp and then took the little strip that is left over and turned it over and put it on the card too! Waste not, want not! Then I used the new riding hood red double striped ribbon for the middle.

Have a great rest of your Monday!

Sketch Challenge 189

I'm still a week behind! Will I ever catch up? I love all the new layout ideas I'm getting from these sketch challenges. I used the new Flight of the Butterfly and Inspired by Nature stamp sets for this one. Of course I had to make the butterfly three dimensional!

I started with some baja breeze and layered on some kiwi kiss. Then I stamped the grass image from Inspired by Nature and added the butterfly flying through the breeze. Now I'm going to go dream about being a butterfly...

Sketch Challenge 187

Even though this was last week's sketch, I liked it so much that I still thought I would try it. I wasn't able to try it last week becasue we were on vacation last week up in Birch Bay, WA near the Canadian border. My dh's Uncle's family has a reunion there every year. We had a nice time. We watched the Olympics on tv. We helped build a large sandcastle. We went swimming. And we had nice family dinners together. But now I'm back and itchin' to stamp!

So here's my take on this sketch. I used the new Eatern Blooms stamp set. I stamped the large flower in tangerine tango and then used the rock and roll technique and rolled the edges in riding hood red then cut it out and mounted it on a 5-petal punched piece of kiwi kiss.

For the panels I stamped the small flower in riding hood red, tangerine tango, and apricot and sponged the edges in tangerine tango. I really want to add some ribbon to it, but I still haven't gotten my order with all the fabulous new ribbon, so I might add it later. So, I finished by just stamping a setiment from Heard from the Heart. Have a great day!

Monogrammed Cards & Card Holder

Doesn't everyone need cards to write a quick thank you or thinking of you note? I love making personalized gifts for friends that I know they will use. I made this note card holder and monogrammed cards for my friend Kathy. Kathy has always been there to help with whatever I need help with. She's helped me paint, hang up signs, watch my kids, pick up some groceries for us, and lately give my family a ride to the airport.

I used the last of my textured soft sky cardstock for the note card holder. I adapted this from a note card holder that I had previously made for smaller cards. I started with a piece of 9 x 10 cardstock. I scored the 10 " side in half at 5 1/2" and the 9" side at 6" to create the pockets for the notecards. Then I trimmed on the 5 1/2" score line from the bottom up to the 6" score line. I corner rounded the inside edges and put eyelets in the other side to thread the ribbon through.

For the cards, I kept them simple by using the Baroque Background. I added a scalloped circle with the letter K from Lovely Letters. Then, I added a strip of the Baroque border wheel along the edge of the envelopes.
Let me know what you think! And thanks for stopping by!

Sneak Peek: Flower Power Card Elements

Here is another sneak peek at one of the great new Simply Sent Card Elements kits: Flower Power. It comes with textured paper, designer paper, cute self-adhesive die-cuts and ribbon, brads and buttons to make nine cards! The coordinating stamp set, Wow Flowers, is sold separately.
Here is the first card. These cards were quick and easy to put together! I used some dimensionals on the flower to make it pop.
This one is my favorite. I love this color combination: rose red, old olive, and perfect plum.

And this is the final card. The kit comes with the directions to make all of these great cards, but if you're feeling adventurous, you can make whatever designs you want with this fun kit!

The catalogs are here!

As soon as I heard the rumble of the UPS truck I ran to the front door and there on the bench were my two boxes of Stampin' Up!s NEW Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog. I quickly grabbed them and brought them into the house and set them on the kitchen counter.

"Mommy, is that my birthday present?" asked my just-turned 6-year old who already had a mound of birthday presents on the kitchen table.

"No, this is Mommy's birthday present!" I answered gleefully, already ripping the boxes open with my bare hands (ok there were scissors involved).

From my 6-year old's puzzled expression, I could tell his little brain was processing what month is really was since my real birthday is not 'till November.

"Oh" he said and wondered away to play.

I ran back to the computer, typed a short email to let everyone know, "They're here!!"

So if you'd like a copy, just call or email me and let me know when you'd like to come pick one up! Have a great day!!
